Description: The "Starlab" is a small, portable version of a permanently installed planetarium. Starlab consists of an inflatable polymer dome that can be set up easily in a classroom, auditorium, or gym. Inside is a projector that can show the night sky, produce constellation outlines, and detail the continents on a globe of the earth. For astronomy, the changing motions of the sun, moon, planets, and stars can be shown with a whole year condensed into a few minutes.

The East Central Educational Service Center is pleased to offer use of the Digitalis Starlab Planetarium to its member schools. This Starlab is capable of demonstrating beginning through advanced astronomy concepts. It can display ecliptic, celestial equator, equatorial and azimuthal grids. Students now will be able to view the sun against the background of stars in the daytime or against a blue sky. Digitalis can move forward or backward in time at varying speeds.

Educators are invited to attend a training session to learn about the features of Digitarium Alpha. This training is required if you plan to request the Digitalis Starlab. (NOTE: This session is for those who have NOT been trained on the Digitalis planetarium. It is not an advanced session.)
