Creative Teachers Wanted! As a service to our partner schools, ECESC is working to compile career exploration resources for teachers and students. We have identified a high need for these types of resources in K-8 classrooms. ECESC seeks to help fill this gap by leveraging talent in our region. We are seeking K-8 teachers in our partner schools who enjoy planning cross-curricular student activities and have a talent for bringing the real world into the classroom. ECESC will compensate participating teachers for the creation of developmentally appropriate resources that connect Indiana’s employability skills standards to local career opportunities. Participating teachers will have access to a template and other instructional resources. Participants will work independently, but will have the option to attend networking opportunities at ECESC. Teachers will have flexibility in the number of resources they choose to create, and will receive $250 per lesson. If you are interested in this opportunity, please complete the application via Google Forms: https://forms.gle/FHv3fhPR1tCFQv8F6. Applications are due by Monday, November 14, 2022. Lesson creation will begin in January 2023. Please direct any questions to Lindsey Lovern llovern@ecesc.k12.in.us

What is the Well-Rounded Course Access opportunity through IU? Join Mark Conrad at this informational session on Aug. 31 via Zoom. Register here: https://tinyurl.com/wrca831. The IDOE was awarded a five-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education to expand access to well-rounded courses for students across the state. IDOE has partnered with Indiana University (IU) to develop and implement a model for providing well-rounded educational opportunities through increased course access for all students, “including female students, minority students, English learners, children with disabilities, and low-income students who are often underrepresented in critical and enriching subjects” as determined by the grant. Well-rounded courses may include specialized courses, courses that are more rigorous than the regular curricula, career and technical education, or elective courses.
